2015 was a huge year for SurfEasy. We gained more users, pushed more updates and released new products than ever before.
Two of our biggest new products of last year appeared right at the end. For users of Opera and Google Chrome, we released our brand new browser extensions, bringing all the safety and security of SurfEasy VPN right inside your favourite browser.
But how do they work?
Both products are browser extensions, meaning that you can get them through the Opera Add-Ons store and Chrome Web store respectively. These extensions will then appear inside your browser, right by the address bar, allowing you to turn SurfEasy on and off with just the touch of a button. When turned on, SurfEasy creates an encryption tunnel between you and the web, protecting all your information, including your IP address. By hiding your IP address, we make it so that you cannot be tracked online. Neither can anyone see what you’re doing online, what websites you’re visiting or what your download history looks like. As we’re a no-log network, we don’t keep any of this information either.
Our 13 different regions allow you to “borrow” an IP address some somewhere else in the world, tricking the web into thinking you’re in that country and therefore allowing you to access content from that region. This also means that you can bypass restrictions from within your own country or network, keeping the internet free and open, as it should be.
We’re super proud to be making our bank-grade encryption available in more formats and to more people, because everyone deserves real privacy from a company they can trust.
